The Onkyo D-77 XX is a bookshelf loudspeaker designed for high performance, manufactured between 1988 and 1989 in Japan. With a sleek cabinet, the speaker system exemplifies advanced acoustic engineering. It features a 3-way, 3-speaker bass reflex design with a powerful low-frequency 31 cm cone woofer, a 12 cm midrange cone, and a 2.5 cm dome tweeter. The woofer utilizes a pure cross carbon diaphragm for exceptional rigidity and purity, employing a double-layer construction layered at a 45-degree angle to mitigate resonance. The magnetic circuit boasts a 140x75x17mm magnet, achieving a magnetic flux density of 11,700 gauss and total magnetic flux of 155,000 maxwell. The midrange speaker uses a similar two-layer carbon construction, and the tweeter employs a plasma carbonite titanium diaphragm, enhancing durability and performance by minimizing high-frequency resonance peaks. The structure minimizes interference among units, utilizing carefully selected materials in its enclosure, including high-density particleboard with varying thicknesses. External dimensions are 380 mm in width, 670 mm in height, and 363 mm in depth, with a weight of 34 kg, providing a robust presence in any setup. This model originally retailed for approximately 1,400 DM per unit, highlighting its premium positioning at launch.
