Andover Audio has unveiled the SpinBase MAX 2, an enhanced version of its acclaimed turntable speaker system. Building on the foundation laid in 2024, the MAX 2 introduces significant improvements in sound quality, primarily achieved through a closed acoustic enclosure. The incorporation of IsoGrove technology effectively minimizes speaker-induced vibrations, ensuring the turntable operates without interference and delivers pristine audio performance.
The SpinBase MAX 2 is equipped with six drivers, including two ¾-inch silk-dome tweeters and four 3.5-inch woofers, all integrated within an acoustic suspension design. This sealed enclosure not only tightens the bass response but also reduces distortion, providing a more accurate and detailed listening experience. Each driver is powered by a dedicated 100-watt Class-D amplifier, allowing for precise control over both high and low frequencies, even at higher volumes. The system's 270° directivity ensures that sound is evenly distributed throughout the room, creating an immersive audio environment regardless of seating position.
Connectivity options on the MAX 2 are extensive despite its compact dimensions of 457 x 108 x 342 mm. The back panel features a variety of inputs, including phono, line (aux), optical digital, and USB Type-C for direct playback from flash drives. Additionally, there is a dedicated subwoofer output and a headphone jack for private listening. The upgraded Bluetooth functionality supports two-way transmission, enabling seamless streaming from mobile devices and connection to wireless headphones or speakers without signal disruption.
Aesthetically, the SpinBase MAX 2 maintains a sleek and understated design, available in both black and white finishes to complement the broader Spin product lineup. Users benefit from intuitive controls via a central knob and a remote, facilitating easy adjustments of inputs, volume, and tonal settings from a distance. Priced at $549, the MAX 2 offers a robust solution for vinyl enthusiasts seeking a high-performance, all-in-one audio system that seamlessly integrates with their turntable setup.
Overall, the SpinBase MAX 2 stands out as a refined and versatile addition to Andover Audio’s offerings, delivering enhanced bass quality, greater neutrality, and an extended frequency range. Its thoughtful design and comprehensive feature set make it a compelling choice for audiophiles looking to elevate their vinyl listening experience without compromising on space or connectivity.
