AVID Launches Second Generation Altus and Nexus Tonearms

AVID celebrates its 30th anniversary by unveiling the second generation of its renowned Altus and Nexus tonearms, now enhanced with the advanced V2 bias control technology. Building upon the models introduced in 2023, the Altus V2 and Nexus V2 are designed to deliver superior tracking precision and enhanced sound quality, addressing the nuanced requirements of audiophiles.

Central to the upgrades is AVID’s innovative bias control technology, which optimizes the tracking force exerted by the cartridge across the entire surface of a vinyl record. Research conducted by AVID identified that the optimal bias force varies, necessitating higher force at the beginning and end of the record and a reduced force in the middle sections. The newly integrated bias compensation system in the V2 models allows for independent adjustments tailored to each segment of the record, ensuring consistent and accurate playback.
