High-Resolution Bluetooth Standard Projected for Release in October 2026

Bluetooth SIG plans to establish a new standard for high-resolution and lossless audio transmission by October 2026.

The new technology, termed High Data Throughput (HDT), achieves transfer rates up to 7.5 Mbps, significantly higher than current standards.

Compatible devices will require updated hardware, as existing Bluetooth LE Audio products cannot support HDT through software updates.
