Snapdragon Sound processor delivers high-res audio and Bluetooth 5.4 ensures low latency.
HMD unveiled the Amped Buds, a groundbreaking pair of wireless earbuds, at the MWC 2025 conference. These earbuds distinguish themselves with an integrated charging case that doubles as a power bank for smartphones. Utilizing Qi2 technology, the case can attach magnetically to the back of compatible smartphones, providing a convenient way to replenish battery life on the go. This feature requires the smartphone to support wireless charging, ensuring seamless compatibility for users.
Equipped with a robust 1600 mAh battery, the Amped Buds offer an impressive total playback time of up to 95 hours. When active noise cancellation (ANC) is enabled, the earbuds deliver approximately 4.9 hours of continuous use, extending to 8 hours without ANC. The charging case enhances the battery life of devices like the iPhone 16 by up to 20% when attached magnetically and up to 24% with a wired connection. The design of the case eliminates the need for opening a lid, allowing the earbuds to be inserted from the side, which not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also improves user convenience.
Sound quality is a key focus for the Amped Buds, powered by the Snapdragon Sound processor to ensure high-resolution audio with minimal loss. The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4, offering fast pairing capabilities and low latency for an enhanced experience during gaming and video playback. Additionally, six built-in microphones work to minimize background noise, providing clear audio for calls. A transparency mode allows users to stay aware of their surroundings without sacrificing sound quality.
Durability and build quality are addressed with an IP54 rating, making the Amped Buds resistant to dust and sweat, suitable for various environments and activities. The ergonomic design incorporates flexible components to enhance comfort and fit, catering to long listening sessions without discomfort. Priced at approximately 200 euros, the Amped Buds are set to offer audiophiles a versatile and technically advanced option in the competitive wireless earbud market.
Availability details are yet to be announced, but the Amped Buds are expected to make a significant impact upon their release, combining cutting-edge technology with practical features that cater to the needs of modern users.
