Mutec GmbH has unveiled the Astralius, a cutting-edge external DAC, at the High End Show 2025 in Munich. This latest addition to Mutec’s lineup features a unique reclocking function that promises to elevate digital audio reproduction to unprecedented levels of precision and musicality. Building on the success of the MC3+ series, the Astralius sets a new benchmark in the realm of digital audio conversion.
The Astralius employs a dual-mono architecture, utilizing separate ESS Sabre® DAC chips for each channel. This design ensures maximum resolution and an extensive dynamic range, catering to the most discerning audiophiles. Central to its performance is Mutec’s proprietary REVIVE Re-Clocking Algorithm combined with their advanced 1G-Clock Technology. These innovations work in tandem to eliminate jitter, optimizing the integrity of the audio signal and delivering exceptional sound fidelity.
Connectivity is a strong suit of the Astralius, which offers eight digital inputs including USB, AES/EBU, S/PDIF (both optical and coaxial), and I²S via HDMI and RJ45. Additionally, the DAC features a 10 MHz reference clock input, allowing synchronization with external clock generators like the MUTEC REF10 and REF10 SE120. This versatility ensures seamless integration into a variety of digital setups, whether in high-end home audio systems or professional studio environments.
The analog section of the Astralius has been meticulously crafted to provide accurate and balanced sound reproduction. An integrated high-quality headphone amplifier, complete with volume control and remote management, offers flexibility for both casual listening and critical monitoring. Developed and manufactured in Germany, the Astralius embodies over three decades of expertise in high-performance digital audio processing and ultra-low noise clocking technology.
Set to hit the market in autumn 2025, the Mutec Astralius is anticipated to become an essential component for audiophiles seeking top-tier digital-to-analog conversion. With its blend of advanced technology and superior build quality, the Astralius is poised to redefine the standards of digital audio excellence.
