Audiophiles are eagerly anticipating the upcoming High End Show 2025 in Munich, where Lithuanian audio manufacturer Reed is set to unveil its latest innovations. Among the highlights are the Reed SF optical cartridge, the Reed EQ phono equalizer, and the Reed PS external power supply, promising to push the boundaries of vinyl playback technology.
The Reed SF distinguishes itself from traditional magnetic cartridges by eliminating coils and magnets. Instead, it employs an optical system utilizing a laser to track needle movements, significantly reducing mechanical interference and minimizing pressure on vinyl records. Equipped with a sapphire cantilever and a Shibata-tipped stylus, the SF offers a recommended tracking force between 1.5 to 2.0 grams. This design ensures precise groove reading while maintaining the integrity of the vinyl surface.
