Study Reveals Human Visual Perception Limits Between 1440p and 8K Screens

Researchers from Cambridge University and Meta Reality Labs analyzed human visual perception using a Pixel Per Degree (PPD) metric.

Black-and-white images were distinguishable at 94 PPD, while red-green patterns scored 89 PPD, and yellow-purple images were less perceptible at 53 PPD.

Study findings revealed no discernible difference between 1440p and 8K resolutions on a 50-inch display from a three-meter distance.
