Thorens has unveiled the MC 1600 phono preamplifier at the High End Show 2025 in Munich, reinforcing its reputation for high-quality vinyl playback equipment. This fully balanced preamplifier is designed to support both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges, catering to a wide range of audiophile preferences.

Crafted meticulously in Germany, the MC 1600 boasts a symmetrical signal path that ensures exceptionally low noise levels and high channel separation. These features contribute to a natural and pristine sound quality, meeting the stringent demands of discerning vinyl enthusiasts. The design maintains a minimalist aesthetic, emphasizing functionality without unnecessary embellishments.

Technical versatility is a standout feature of the MC 1600. For MC cartridges, the input impedance is adjustable from 20 to 1280 Ohms across more than 60 steps, allowing precise matching to various cartridges. For MM cartridges, the input impedance is set to a standard 47 kOhms.
