John Lewis partners with Rough Trade to offer a curated vinyl collection alongside turntables.
Turntable sales have risen 17% over five years, reflecting a renewed interest in vinyl.
The vinyl assortment balances classic albums like Marvin Gaye's *What’s Going On* with modern releases like Chappell Roan’s *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess*.
Strolling past gleaming turntables and modern home setups, it’s now possible to spot racks of vinyl in select John Lewis stores. The department store has joined forces with Rough Trade to roll out a fresh range of records, reflecting renewed excitement for the format. There’s been a noted rise in turntable sales—apparently up 17% over five years—and it’s sparked the idea to offer both the hardware and some carefully chosen titles on the shelves.
Among that curated assortment, older masterpieces share space with newer hits. Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” and Nirvana’s “Nevermind” line up alongside Chappell Roan’s “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” Fontaines D.C.’s “Romance,” and several other noteworthy albums. This spread aims to capture the remarkable sonic journey that has turned many listeners into vinyl devotees.
On the technical side, the retailer already stocks more than 20 different turntable models, so bringing in a variety of records naturally complements that. Analog enthusiasts often praise the tangible, warm character of vinyl playback, and having a selection on hand right where turntables are sold seems like a logical evolution.
This expansion isn’t standing alone: other high street names have made similar moves, too. While the vinyl revival no longer makes daily headlines, the consistent growth in sales proves that the appetite for that analog experience is very much alive. Now, browsing for furnishings at John Lewis can go hand-in-hand with discovering a timeless record for the turntable at home.
