LG is set to broaden the reach of its Gaming Portal, a dedicated hub for gamers integrated into its webOS smart TVs. Scheduled for expansion in the second quarter of 2025, the portal will become accessible on a wider array of devices, including LG Smart Monitors and the StanbyME lifestyle screens. This move aims to cater to the increasing demand from gamers who seek high-performance displays without the need for additional consoles or gaming PCs.
Currently available in 19 regions on LG Smart TVs running webOS 23 and later versions, the Gaming Portal will soon tap into new markets, offering seamless access to a diverse range of gaming experiences. The platform supports major cloud gaming services such as Amazon Luna, Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Boosteroid, and Blacknut, enabling users to play a variety of titles from Triple-A blockbusters to casual and social games. This integration ensures that gamers can enjoy high-quality content with just a stable internet connection and a compatible controller.
From a technical standpoint, LG’s Gaming Portal enhances the gaming experience by leveraging advanced display technologies. The supported TVs deliver 4K resolution at 120Hz and feature Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to minimize screen tearing and ensure smooth gameplay. Additionally, select models are equipped with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium, further optimizing visual performance and responsiveness. These features align with the high standards expected by the gaming community for both visual fidelity and performance.
The portal also incorporates personalized elements to enrich user engagement. Gamers can track their achievements and badges, browse through recently played titles, and explore trending games. The My Page section offers tailored recommendations, helping users discover new favorites based on their gaming preferences. Moreover, the interface allows for easy navigation between games playable with a controller or the remote, catering to different playstyles and enhancing overall accessibility.
In parallel with the Gaming Portal rollout, LG continues to highlight its commitment to gaming with advancements in its TV lineup. Notably, the LG OLED evo G5 series introduces a 165Hz refresh rate, backed by VESA’s ClearMR 10,000 certification for superior motion clarity. These developments underscore LG’s dedication to providing top-tier gaming experiences, positioning its smart TVs as versatile hubs for both entertainment and high-performance gaming.
