Founded in 2011 in East Syracuse, New York (with parent company established in 2004 in Shenzhen, China), Shokz was originally known as AfterShokz before rebranding in December 2021 to celebrate their 10-year anniversary. Founded by Bruce Borenstein and now led by CEO Vincent Xiong, the company pioneered bringing patented bone conduction technology from military and law enforcement applications to consumer electronics. Since 2007, they have focused on bone conduction speakers, successfully applying the technology to consumer headphones in 2011. The company launched at the 2012 International CES in Las Vegas and introduced the world's first Bluetooth bone conduction headphones in January 2013. Their Sportz model, launched in 2012, was named one of 'Nine Products That Changed the World' by PCWorld magazine. With headquarters relocated from Syracuse, NY to Austin, TX, and additional operations in Singapore and Hong Kong, Shokz has achieved remarkable growth with revenue increasing more than 80-fold in seven years and current monthly production of 200,000 headphones, establishing itself as the leading sports headphone brand in bone conduction technology.
