Sony is expected to release a follow-up to its popular entry-level noise-canceling earbuds, rumored to be called WF-C710N. Enthusiasts are already talking about the fresh look, particularly a transparent “Glass Blue” variant that reveals some of the internal hardware—evoking that nostalgic love for gear that boldly shows its engineering roots. Beyond aesthetics, the overall design might be slightly bigger to accommodate improvements in noise-cancellation tech.
The new model is said to feature two microphones for more effective ANC, along with two different transparency modes: a standard setting to amplify ambient sounds broadly and a specialized mode to focus only on voices. Each earbud is supposedly equipped with 5 mm drivers and supports SBC/AAC codecs but not LDAC. Touch-sensitive controls appear to be in place of physical buttons, and there is a proximity sensor intended to pause playback upon removal from the ears.
