Arcam (originally A&R Cambridge Ltd., Amplification & Recording Cambridge) is a British audio manufacturer founded in 1976 by Cambridge University engineering students John Dawson and Chris Evans. Based in Cambridge Innovation Park, Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, the company pioneered several innovations including the first standalone DAC (1988) and high-quality DAB radio tuner (1999). Famous for the A60 integrated amplifier (30,000+ sold), Alpha and Delta series of the 1980s-90s, and the FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) range. Acquired by Samsung Electronics through Harman International in 2017, Arcam continues designing and engineering all products in-house in Cambridge while serving the global market with amplifiers, AV receivers, DACs, and digital music players.
