Stability and capacity of the power supply are crucial for the dynamic and tonal consistency of an amplifier. The Black Box, along with its companion the Super Black Box, addresses this by significantly increasing the capacitance of the amplifier’s power supply storage capacitors. The Black Box achieves a fourfold increase in capacitance, while the Super Black Box achieves a tenfold increase. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for amplifiers driving speakers with low efficiency or minimum impedances as low as 2 ohms.
By increasing the capacitance, the Black Box improves current delivery stabilization and reduces impedance interaction from the load. This translates to an improved dynamic range, separation, depth, and soundstage size, enhancing the overall clarity of musical reproduction across the entire frequency range. Furthermore, the Black Box minimizes the effects of mains variations and interferences, thanks to the noise filtering characteristics of its capacitors.
The Black Box is available in silver or black, complementing the aesthetic of the OCTAVE amplifiers. Its dimensions are 185 x 100 x 310 mm (W x H x D), and it weighs 3.2 kg. It comes with a standard 1-meter cable, though special lengths are available upon request. Additionally, the Black Box is equipped with discharge electronics, allowing it to discharge within two seconds, ensuring efficient and safe handling.
