The Pioneer VSX-S300 is a compact A/V receiver designed for home entertainment systems where space is at a premium. With dimensions of 85mm in height and 280mm in depth, it resembles a DVD or Blu-ray player more than a traditional receiver and fits seamlessly into tighter cabinet spaces. This model delivers 100W of power across six channels, allowing for flexible configurations such as a 5.1 setup with a passive sub-woofer or a 3.1 configuration with front left/right, center, and passive sub-woofer capabilities. Additionally, it can provide stereo output for a second room. The receiver uses Class D amplification technology coupled with an Eco mode that significantly reduces power consumption by up to 35% when only the front speakers and subwoofer are active. It features Pioneer’s Advanced Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration for precise sound tuning during setup. Connectivity options include five HDMI ports (four inputs and one output) with support for 3D video and ARC. The unit includes HD audio decoding and offers Bluetooth audio streaming capabilities, which can be enabled through the use of an optional Bluetooth adapter. The VSX-S300 was first made available in Australia in September 2011, packaged with either the Pioneer HVT500 or HVT600 Sound Wing speakers.
